Edward Mazur

Edward Mazur, Ph.D.

Ed is founding member of the CJHS and a President Emeritus. A professor emeritus of the City Colleges of Chicago, he was the director of the City of Chicago Intergovernmental Executive Development Program from 1973 to 2001. He is the author of a book, “Minyans for a Prairie City: The Politics of Chicago Jewry, 1840 – 1950,” as well as more than 250 articles on urban affairs, politics, transportation, human resources development, and diversity. Ed has lectured at universities in the United States, England, France, Austria, and Italy. The Past President of the City Club of Chicago, Ed has also served as a docent on architectural boat tours of Chicago. A graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana – Champaign, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and history, he received his Ph.D. in urban history from the University of Chicago.
